Damsel

It was a thought of mine to set up this website for Archetype Chat a couple of years ago, after being told I needed more of a platform for my identity as an author. That appealed to my Writer, but my Teacher screamed out that it wanted an educational aspect, but when I tried desperately to employ Geek I found my talents lacking and so it sat for a while. Finally, I got wise and turned the project over to my Damsel, who begged and pleaded but simply couldn’t find a Knight to come and save the day…until now, two years later. Free-lancer Jen pooled her talents and came to Damsel’s rescue. Setting up in identity on Facebook, Twitter, WordPress and the Web has been a torturous experiece (since I am a techno-saur in the throws of extinction).

Yes, Damsel, that part of us we all use from time-to-time to get done what we simply can’t (or don’t want to) do. Damsel will seem hopeless and can present as whiny or depleted and helpless. Damsel is looking for her Hero…and basically anyone who will listen, and more importantly, help. Damsel needs a dragon slayed and she can be either completely unconcerned about who provides that help, or she will set her sights on a certain Rescuer she hopes to attract through her perilous-moment-of-need. I had a specific need to meet and my answer was to find someone with expertise to help. I don’t have Damsel in my natal archetype ring so I employ her as needed. One thing to note here is that the Damsel archetype is not male or female, it is neutral energy–men and women will employ this energy as needed to obtain what is wanted/needed.

Damsel tactics in mating can be equated to lures cast out to get nibbles of interest. If Damsel is interested in attracting a potential partner she may create chaos in order to draw in someone in whom she has interest. As a reward to her Rescuer she will coo and heap compliments on her new benefactor.

Damsel in general is an energy employed when you are frustrated and need help, when you simply don’t want to do something and beg someone to do it, or when you have tried many times to do something but need help to get it done (and send a desperate whine out to everyone who will listen).
